Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya’s agent has praised the striker’s relentless work ethic as the forward leads the league’s scoring charts for AmaZulu FC. Gibson Mahachi said the 23-year-old’s humble approach and tough upbringing are key to his success, which has sparked transfer interest from other clubs.
Ngwenya has been in ruthless form, netting seven times in six Premier Soccer League matches this season. That haul includes the winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants last week, a result that helped AmaZulu climb to third place with 13 points from six games. His performances earned him the Betway Premiership Player of the Month award for August.
Mahachi linked Ngwenya’s current resilience to his development under former Zimbabwean coach Norman Mapeza. “He doesn’t complain, he just works,” Mahachi said of his client. He described Mapeza as one of the best coaches in Zimbabwe and said his tough methods helped toughen up the young forward.
The agent also addressed growing speculation about Ngwenya’s future. “Many clubs are knocking on the door and asking about him, which is normal when a player is doing well,” Mahachi stated. He made clear, however, that there is no rush to force a move, saying any decision will be made when the time is right for the player’s career.
Ngwenya’s rise comes after public criticism from AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane, who once labelled him a 'lazy thinker'. His response on the pitch has been emphatic, becoming the team's undisputed top scorer.
