AmaZulu FC midfielder Siphesihle Maduna is nearing a return to action after a groin injury. Coach Arthur Zwane provided the update following his side's 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants at Princes Magogo Stadium on Saturday.

Zwane explained the player's recent absence. "Maduna, he missed the better part of pre-season," the coach said. "He only trained for a week, if not a week and a half to two weeks."

The 26-year-old, who rejoined Usuthu from TS Galaxy, missed approximately four more weeks of preparation as the club managed his fitness. His return would be a timely boost for a squad sitting third in the Premier Soccer League with 13 points from six games. Their recent form reads three wins, one draw and one loss from the last five.

"So yeah, anytime soon he might be available for selection," Zwane stated. "But the key thing is to make sure that he’s physically and mentally ready, psychologically as well."

The priority is a full recovery before Maduna is considered for selection. His potential return adds depth as AmaZulu look to maintain their strong start, which includes a current two-game winning streak. The next match is a key part of their push to close the seven-point gap to leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
