AmaZulu FC have announced a new partnership with Spanish La Liga club Levante UD, a move designed to elevate the club's youth academy and development structures. The agreement brings international expertise from one of Spain's historic clubs to Durban.
Chief executive Sinenjabulo Zungu-Ntuli confirmed the deal, framing it as a key step in the club's long-term vision. "We’re very excited about this partnership," Zungu-Ntuli said. "It’s going to come with a lot of activities and development for the young players of AmaZulu." He added that the collaboration is "one step to ensure that our academy is at the level we want it to be at."
The partnership arrives at a time of positive momentum for the club. Under owner and chairman Sandile Zungu, AmaZulu have worked to establish a more competitive and structured environment, a project that yielded a fourth-place finish in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership. That progress is continuing this term, with the team sitting third in the Premier Soccer League standings on 13 points after six games.
A major factor in that strong start has been the form of striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, who leads the scoring charts with seven goals in six appearances, a key part of the team's stats. His latest strike secured a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants last weekend, a result built on a solid defensive effort. The club will now look to build on-field success by strengthening its foundations, using Levante's experience in nurturing young talent.
Founded in 1909 and based in Valencia, Levante UD have a reputation for player development and have featured legends like Johan Cruyff. The partnership will give AmaZulu's academy players and coaches exposure to the methods of the Spanish football system. Attention now turns back to league action, with a trip to face Polokwane City in their next fixtures assignment on 19 September.
